Liverpool Football Club. 2018/19. 19-3-1.

I thought I’d share my thought and opinions on how Liverpool have got on so far, 23 games in to what has been a mesmerising Premier League season so far. First of all, we’re top of the league, and how great that sounds after twenty three games, is nothing short of fantastic. We’ve had a bit of everything this season, end to end thrillers (a certain Crystal Palace game comes to mind,) top 6 annihilations, (sorry Arsenal) and beautiful scrappy 1-0 winners, showing us that we have all the attributes, stats, and tenacity of a title winning season.

As excited as I am, I’m still fucking nail-less every Sunday night. We are up against arguably the best Premier League team ever assembled, and that handsome egg head Pep. We are four points ahead and have played them twice. I think if you’d have asked any Liverpool fan if they’d have took that at the start of the season they’d have bit your hand off, swallowed it and washed it down with 47 alcoholic beverages. That’s how good our rivals are this season.

A lot has been made about being in the driving seat and the negativity of it. However, I must disagree (cough cough Rio Ferdinand!) The idea that you’d rather be behind the top spot, is fucking ludicrous. We have the opportunity every week, to put pressure on spot number two, which I believe is a serious advantage, not to mention we have 2 competitions to focus on as oppose to 4.

The trust Jurgen Klopp has in this side is beautiful. Even with the injuries we have recently developed, he won’t dare dive into the transfer market, knowing he is onto something special. It’s truly a wonderful, horrendous and nervous time to be a Liverpool fan, but isn’t that what football is all about? The journey to silverware? The stories to tell your grandkids? The homo erotic feelings you have for a Scottish left back?

All in all, while I’m not 100% convinced yet, I’m genuinely starting to believe it may be “our year.” The last minute derby winner, the Shaqiri goals, Sturridge’s leveller against Chelsea, Fabinho’s uprising, VVD’s potential PFA player of the year, oh, and, not forgetting, Mo Salah is top scorer, AGAIN, one season wonder, my hairy arse.

#YNWA, we go again.
